Lunchbox: Trailblazer
Volume 2 Issue 1
Fall 2022
“Linsanity had the effect of making Asian Americans feel like maybe they were the main character in the movie for once.” - Pablo Torre, ESPN
Jeremy Lin became the first American of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to play for the NBA. In a time where there was not as much Asian representation in the media as we have now, Jeremy Lin gave inspiration to Asians across the United States, and around the world. Lin became a source of pride for many–a leading force for Asian representation, a role model, a trailblazer.
For our fall issue, we wanted to pay our respects and highlight the tremendous work of Asian Emersonians that came before us, and served as trailblazers for amplifying our presence on campus, including Adele Lim, Daniel Kwan, and Maureen Goo.
Introducing Lunchbox: Trailblazer. What does it mean to be a trailblazer? What does it mean to leave a legacy? How do trailblazers serve purpose in our identity, specifically as Asians in a predominantly white institution and community? This issue is dedicated to all of the Asian trailblazers in our lives, in the media, and beyond.
