Lunchbox: Ties That Bind

Volume 2 Issue 2

Spring 2023

Ties That Bind is Lunchbox’s fifth issue, and celebrates the ties that we as Asians at Emerson hold to both each other, and to our own identities.

We as Asians carry the strength and resilience of those that came before us, and the word “community” encompasses everything we value. Not only do we hold these bonds close to us, but they also shape our own identities. With the spaces that both ASIA (Asian Students in Alliance) and Lunchbox hold for Asian students at Emerson, we are able to lean into discomfort, to develop our own relationships with our own identities, and to take up space when Asians historically have been told “no” or “not now.”

In this issue, we are excited to share the stories of Asian Emersonians and how we connect to both our past and to the AAPI community at large. Ties That Bind highlights and celebrates these connections that strengthen both our relationships to our heritage as well as each other.
